Shayla was born and raised in St. George, Utah. She began her academic journey at Utah Tech University, where she earned her associate degree with high honors and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing magna cum laude. Shortly after completing her BSN, Shayla moved to South Florida with her husband to attend the University of Miami, where she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2025.

She later returned to Dixie State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She spent the next several years working in outpatient surgery specializing in orthopedic spine and interventional pain medicine finding a passion for pain management.
