Desert Pain Specialists, proudly serving patients in Cedar City since 2017, will soon expand its offerings at the new Endurance Medical facility. This state-of-the-art project aims to unite exceptional medical services under one roof, advancing health care for the local community.
For Dr. Ryan Workman, the only full-time pain management specialist living and working in Iron County, and his team of over 30 employees, the new facility represents Desert Pain’s commitment to serving the people of Iron County for generations to come.
“Our current facility, we’ve outgrown it,” he shared. “I’m really excited about the opportunity we have of growing our practice here in Cedar City, and of continuing the care that we’ve been giving this community.”
Endurance Medical is a collaborative partnership between Desert Pain, St. George Orthopedic Spine and St. George Eye Center, formed to deliver world-class care from board-certified physicians and surgeons to Iron County residents. The facility has been designed to provide a more comfortable, accessible and technologically advanced experience for every patient.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the project’s future site, 1325 N. Main St. in Cedar City, on Nov. 13. Along with remarks from Hughes General Contractors, Zions Bank, VCBO Architecture, Desert Pain and Physicians Accounting & Management, Mayor Garth O. Green expressed his gratitude to Endurance Medical’s leadership team for choosing to partner with Cedar City on this new venture.
“It represents a vision, an investment and a confidence in the future of Cedar City,” Green said. “We’re a growing, vibrant city, and companies like Endurance choose Cedar City because of our people, our work ethic and our commitment to building a community where families thrive and businesses succeed. Today’s ceremony marks the beginning of one more new chapter, one that will bring high-quality health care services, new jobs and expanded opportunities for residents across our region.”
Endurance Medical’s partners strategically purchased land near Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital to ensure convenience for both patients and providers. The project consists of a two-story, 20,000-square-foot facility designed by Jeff Pinegar of VCBO Architecture and built by Hughes General Contractors.
The building was designed as a tilt-up concrete structure to provide durability, energy efficiency, construction efficiency and enhanced safety. This method ensures long-term performance, low maintenance and a modern architectural appearance that aligns with the needs of today’s health care environments.
Endurance Medical is a sister project to the Riverfront Medical Center in St. George, sharing many of the same principals and partners. The facility’s developing partner is Brent Davis of Physicians Accounting & Management.“This project reflects a lasting commitment to improving health care convenience, quality and accessibility for families throughout Iron County and Southern Utah, ensuring world-class medicine is available right in their own community,” Davis told St. George News.
For patients across the greater Cedar City area, Endurance Medical represents expanded access to top-tier specialty care close to home. By bringing together leaders in pain management, orthopedic spine surgery, ophthalmology and physical therapy under one roof, the facility will eliminate the need for long-distance travel to larger urban centers.
The project is designed to provide a seamless, patient-centered experience, combining advanced technology, efficient design and compassionate care in a modern, comfortable environment. From diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation, patients can expect coordinated care that promotes faster recovery and improved long-term outcomes.
At this new location, Desert Pain will continue to provide comprehensive pain management services, including advanced interventional procedures, regenerative medicine, imaging-guided therapies and integrated physical therapy, all within one collaborative environment. This unified approach allows physicians, therapists and specialists to work side-by-side, offering personalized treatment plans that promote accelerated recovery and long-term relief.
The expansion into Endurance Medical underscores Desert Pain’s ongoing commitment to innovation, compassionate care and community health, ensuring patients throughout Southern Utah have convenient access to world-class pain management close to home.
“Every day of my life, I’m grateful that I live and practice here in Cedar City,” Workman said. “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be part of it, and I’m really excited to break ground on this building.”
